This was written in 1964: "we can look forward with confidence to a considerable degree of freedom from infectious diseases at a time not too far in the future. Indeed...it seems reasonable to anticipate that within some measurable time...all the major infections will have disappeared"
Antibiotics certainly revolutionized modern medicine. But the emergence of super bugs and antibiotic resistance have alarmed the US Centers for Disease Control. Some bacteria are currently resistant to all or nearly all antibiotics. Some bacteria kill up to half of the people who get infected. Some bacteria can spread their resistance to other bacteria.
In the past, herbal remedies and aromatic oils were used to combat disease. As the need for new drugs develops, scientists are looking to ancient traditions to discover any significant science behind the 'myths' of ancient remedies.
"The finding highlighted the potential of peppermint, cinnamon bark and lavender essential oils being as antibiotic resistance modifying agent. Reduced usage of antibiotics could be employed as a treatment strategy to decrease the adverse effects and possibly to reverse the beta-lactam antibiotic resistance."
Which would you rather put in your body - something natural and safe or something full of chemicals and other substances that do not work naturally with the body and only mask the issues instead of helping it get to the root of the problem.
